Portrait of Emeka Obiora

Emeka Obiora

Partner · Assault cases and trials

Emeka tries the firm’s assault and weapons cases. He is the partner clients call when a case is going to a hearing or a trial.

Emeka joined the firm after several years defending people in the trial courts of the region. He tries bench and jury cases and treats cross-examination as preparation, not performance.

He spends the first meeting asking you to describe the minute that matters, then compares it to the police video and the witness statements. He tells you what a witness is likely to say before the witness says it.

How Emeka prepares for a hearing

Emeka writes a one-page summary of the state’s case after the first read of the evidence. You get a copy, and so does the rest of the team, so anyone who picks up your call has the same page in front of them.
